Nelson Club - Tahunanui, NelsonThe Nelson Golf Club is situated on Bolt Road in Tahunanui and is built on a sandy base, which provides rapid draining after rain. The Tahunanui links, as the locals call it, is a 6,323 metres, par 72 course, which has narrow undulating fairways and moderately fast greens. The 18 hole championship links course is adjacent to the district's airport and the picturesque waters of Tasman Bay. This beautiful seaside links course has reputedly the 'best' greens in the country. Nelson Golf Club is Located a short drive from Kingsland Court Motel - 2.2 km (about 4 mins). Waahi Taakaro Golf Course - Maitai Valley, NelsonPlay Nelson's own nine hole course in a valley setting alongside a beautiful river surrounded by leafy shade trees where tui, pigeons and kingfishers create an all day chorus. Waahi Taakaro Golf Course is a flat easy walking course. The Maitai River flows through the course and influences three of the holes. With the many trees and small greens you will find your game very interesting and challenging. There are some stunning views of surrounding hills, mountains and rivers - this is certainly one of the 'hidden gems' of New Zealand.Greenacres Golf Club - Best Island, NelsonLocated a little further out of Nelson at Best Island, Richmond. It is notable for its beautiful scenery and pleasant, uncrowded atmosphere. The scenic yet challenging links style layout of the course in a tree lined parklands setting, is excellent for the golf beginner whilst offering many challenges to the lower handicapper. No steep hills to climb but numerous obstacles to navigate around, well placed bunkers plus plenty of challenging lies will test and titillate the average golfer. Being free draining the course is very seldom closed due to bad weather.Tasman Golf Club - Kina BeachLocated at Kina Beach, half-an-hour's drive out of Nelson and overlooking the beautiful Tasman Bay with the Mount Arthur ranges in the background. The course has wonderful sea and mountain views and is relatively easy to play at 4,818 metres, par 66. The steep contours make it quite an interesting challenge and above all it is an enjoyable day out in such a relaxed country atmosphere and the green fees are extremely modest.Motueka Golf Club - MotuekaThe course is suitable for all ages and abilities. Whilst it is a flat , easy walking course characterized by its lush, tree lined fairways, sea views, beautiful vistas and glorious greens, the course layout with its narrow fairways makes it both challenging and interesting, even for the most professional of golfers. This 18 hole course covers an area of 38.6 Hectares and is a parkland course over fairly flat terrain with most holes through avenues of mature trees.
This is a links course with many holes having different tees. Undulating fairways, tricky greens and beautiful coastal and mountain scenery make a pleasant days golf. Four fairways follow the shore line so a swim after golf is possible. |
