The Village People - Nelson 2012![]() CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELLED11th March 2012They’re back, in person, on stage, in New Zealand. The one and only Village People for 4 shows in March, in what promises to be the most fun you and your friends and family can have... Dressed as the Indian, the Cowboy, the Cop, the Construction Worker, the Soldier and The Biker. Village People defined an era of pop music in the late '70s when disco ruled the music charts and the radio airwaves. With worldwide sales of over 100 million albums, their infectiously catchy songs have transcended three generations, with everyone from children to grandmas knowing the actions to YMCA, and the words to In the Navy. Over the past decade, Village People, the world's disco icons, have performed a full schedule of concerts where they are still in constant demand on festival bills, concert tours and TV shows worldwide. The Guinness Book of World Records has even certified their Sun Bowl appearance on December 31, 2008 as the world's largest YMCA dance with over 40,000 fans "doing the YMCA moves" while the group performed. The New Zealand tour, their first in a decade, takes in one of the North Island’s most beautiful wineries and popular summer concert venues Ascension Wine Estate north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge at Matakana, the inaugural RetroFest which takes place with a massive festival line-up including 10CC, Leo Sayer and many other acts at Mystery Creek, near Hamilton, plus two South Island arenas which are being turned into massive Discos at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson and CBS Arena in Christchurch in March. The promoters and band want the Kiwi audiences to get into the spirit of 1979 and dress disco or even better come dressed as your favourite Village People character. It’s all about having an amazing night of singing, dancing and fun. ![]() Kingsland Court Motel - Tahunanui, NELSONWHERE YOUR WELCOME IS ASSUREDAND YOUR STAY IS MEMORABLE |
