Cable Bay
Located approximately a 15 or 20 minute drive to the North of Nelson just off state highway 6, you will find Cable Bay, named after the communication cable that connected New Zealand to the rest of the world for many years.
This is a picturesque area with a pebble beach, walks are a major attraction with easy access to the beautiful Cable Bay Walkway On the drive into cable bay you will pass the Happy Valley Adventure Park, it is well worth a stop where you can enjoy morning or afternoon tea in the cafe, enjoy farm animals and feed the tame eels, and for the more adventurous enjoy the hands on challenge to ride or be a passenger on your own 4-wheel farm bike on an eco tour through superb native forest, among the farm animals to beautiful coastal views. Or take a scenic ride across the valley on the worlds first Skywire, a 3.2km flying fox for a birds eye view across native forests. Relax on a meandering horse trek along river banks. You may even fancy a Sea Kayak in the clear waters in Cable Bay and explore the caves, coves, blowholes and waterfalls. Or a paddle to Pepin Island, you might see some seals, or simply enjoy a snorkle, swim or a relax on a secluded beach. |
