Piki Mai

An abstract audio visual art work which creates illusion on a grand scale through large scale
projection on Nelson’s Christ Church Cathedral and Church Steps.

The marble facades of these structures make for the perfect projection surface. 

Created especially for the Game On Festival in association with the Nelson Arts Festival, Piki Mai tells the story of Nelson in an abstract and visually spectacular way.

The content of the Piki Mai artwork will be based on a wide range of images and text from earlier times; paintings, drawings, photos, film, newspaper and magazine articles, historical and mythical records and personal stories. The maker of the work, Michael Hodgson and his digital collaborator Chris Macmillan weave these literal provocations into a work that is designed to be feast for the eyes.
