At Kingsland Court Motel, we are constantly changing our practises and procedures to better preserve our beautiful country and the ecology for future generations.

We would like to invite you to join us in our endeavours and give you some understanding of our environmental policy.

In keeping with environmental policy Kingsland Court recycles glass, paper and plastic products. We ask our guests to place any of these items beside the rubbish bins located in the kitchen area of our units. These will then be sorted into the recycle bins located near the laundry.

We also request that in an effort to reduce the greenhouse effect you ensure that all lights, heaters and electric blankets etc are turned off when you leave your unit.

Many of our guests choose to reuse their towels if they are staying longer than 1 night, meaning we use less water, less detergents etc. If you wish to reuse your towel please hang them on the hooks provided behind your bathroom door, if not please place in shower tray for collection and washing.

All cleaning products used at Kingsland Court are natural and environmentally friendly and are Biodegradable.

We are testing and selecting light bulbs that contribute to energy savings without giving you an inferior light to live by.

These are just some examples of our aim to help our environment, our regular guests will notice new procedures and products as the price of energy, water and waste disposal bring more opportunities onto the market.

What we do here at our Motel:

• We buy our Cleaning Products in Bulk and Return used containers to Supplier for reuse.
• Recycling Program
• We have a Worm Farm - Recycled Food Scraps & Paper - Worm Castings Used on our Gardens
• All Cleaning Products are Biodegradable
• All Paper Products are Virgin Paper from sustainable forests
• Our Citrus Cleaner is totally Organic Based and again Biodegradable
• Hand & Shower Dispensers in all Units – Soap, Shampoo & Conditioner all Biodegradable
• Exterior Lighting is all Energy Efficient Bulbs and the Main Signage is operated by way of Light Sensors. Security lighting is on Motion Sensors.
• Lower Wattage Halogen Bulbs have been used to replace old light fittings and bulbs. (As Halogens fail they will be replaced eco bulbs).
• We provide Outside Clothes Lines for Drying Clothes rather than using Electric Dryers. (Weather Permitting)
• Lint filters in the Clothes Dryers are cleaned after every load.
• Refrigerators and Stoves are switched off whilst units are vacant.
• We attempt to purchase all products locally
• We offer guests mountain bikes for hire at a reasonable cost to cover maintenance.
• We donate any of our replaced items eg: Furnishings, Linen, and Towels etc to Local Charities.
• We Offer employment to local residents first if possible.
• We interact and are members of Local Community Groups eg: MANZ – Motel Association New Zealand (Nelson & National Branch), Tahunanui Business Association
• We train our staff to commit to our environmental practises.

We encourage our Guests to participate in our Recycling / Environmental Policy in the following ways:

• By turning lights, heaters etc off when they are not in there units.
• Encourage to use recycling bins either in Room or around back near Laundry
• Reuse Towels if staying longer than 1 night
